The Communication Volunteer Program trains and utilizes volunteer personnel to assist the District with its emergency communication system infrastructure. Communication Volunteers staff and operate the District's ICS Type 1 Mobile Communications Unit. Training for the Communication Volunteer Program is provided by District personnel and includes familiarization with the policies, procedures, skills, equipment, and standard operational procedures utilized by the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District. Subsequent to the initial training, all Communication Volunteers must attend monthly training meetings.
Communication Volunteers must live within a 15-minute radius of the District border and have a solid computer and ham/fire radio background. Interested parties are encouraged to contact the Director of Emergency Communications.
