San Ramon, CA – The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District (SRVFPD) Board of Directors has appointed Jonas Aguiar as the District’s next Fire Chief, effective January 8.

Chief Aguiar is a 20-year firefighter with the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District, rising through the ranks since joining the organization in 2005. Most recently, he served as the District’s Deputy Fire Chief, providing executive oversight of emergency medical services, training, and communications while managing a $65 million operating budget and leading more than 160 personnel.

“I am deeply honored to be chosen as the next Fire Chief of the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District,” Aguiar said. “Having grown up and spent my career serving within this department and county, this opportunity is both humbling and profoundly meaningful. The men and women of this organization embody the highest standards of professionalism, compassion, and dedication. It is a privilege to lead them as we continue to serve and protect the citizens of the San Ramon Valley. I look forward to building upon our department’s proud history and working collaboratively to ensure a safe and resilient future for our communities.”

Board President Matthew J. Stamey said the Board is confident in Chief Aguiar’s leadership and experience.

“Jonas Aguiar is a proven leader who brings both operational expertise and a clear vision for the future of our District,” Stamey said. “His commitment to firefighter safety, community service, and organizational excellence makes him exceptionally well qualified to lead the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District into its next chapter.”

Chief Aguiar succeeds Paige Meyer, who served as Fire Chief of the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District for the past 13 years.
